Definition: Paranoia

A state of mental ill health in which the sufferer imagines that external events or people are uniquely linked to them. Feelings of anger, persecution, suspicion or isolation are commonly linked with paranoia. It can result from prolonged alcohol or drug abuse - particularly amphetamines or cocaine.
