Is the fear of going into open spaces. It is one of the most commonly treated phobias in psychiatry or psychology services. Usually the treatment is by behaviour therapy. In such cases the therapist might accompany the sufferer on short journeys, providing support, teaching relaxation techniques etc. and desensitising the sufferer to the fear by gradually increasing the exposure to open spaces.
